British-Italian psych-pop band Vanarin on their upcoming album “Hazy Days”

Being influenced by The Beatles, Nirvana and James Blake. New music about finding joy in fully embracing and absorbing the world around you. Old funk music. Orange mint gin spritzers and more.

Fuzzer: Thanks for taking the time to answer some of our questions! First of all, how did you all meet and start making music together?

Vanarin: Thank you for having us! We all met in Bergamo (Italy), through our shared interest in making music and friendship, and we decided to start playing together.

Fuzzer: Who were your main musical and creative influences growing up?

Vanarin: The Beatles, Nirvana, James Blake and many others.

Fuzzer: One of our favourite songs of yours is "I don't know"! Can you tell us a little bit about the concept of this track?

Vanarin: “I don't know” is a song about being idle and enjoying the process of absorbing the world around you, the apathy it brings along the information highway. I was inspired by the feeling I got while scrolling random nothingness on my phone at 2am.

Fuzzer: Plus we absolutely love “Lost”! What inspired you to write this song?

Vanarin": It's a song about letting go and feeling lost within a whirlwind of digital information but we're just chill guys.

Fuzzer: Another song we think is incredible is "Hey listen"! What was the writing & production process like for this track?

Vanarin: “Hey listen” was an interesting journey - it took various forms before defining itself the way it did. When I hear the song I imagine this dark but playful neighbourhood of lively souls, each with their own story. A wise man warns us to trust the youth around them.

Fuzzer: Incredible! What were your main highlights working on your upcoming album being released on 17 January “Hazy Days”?

Vanarin: We got to try a very different approach to creating the songs. We would go into the studio and just play around with whatever came out, whether they were riffs, sounds or an actual melody. Each time something would happen and a song was born.

Fuzzer: One thing we’re do with each of our interviews is customise a cocktail recipe in relation to the project we're talking about. So if the album "Hazy Days" was a cocktail, what type of drink would it be? What liquor or flavours do you think it would have?

Vanarin": I'm not an expert of how cocktails are made but I do envision a strong orange color within the mix, I'm guessing some kind of gin and orange with lots of mint. A type of orange mint gin spritzer.

Fuzzer: Delicious! What music are you listening to at the moment and are there any artists/songs you would recommend we listen to?

Vanarin: I've been listening to a lot of old funk music. If you enjoy that, try listening to “You’re a Star” by Aquarian Dream. It's a great song.

Fuzzer: What have you got planned for 2025?

Vanarin: New album release and lots of touring! Looking forward to sharing our music with you all.

Thanks Vanarin! Make sure to keep up with them on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify or Apple Music.
